Hens fall to Penn State 5-2

With the opening of the Pegula Ice Arena next season, Delaware played it’s final game at the Greenburg Ice Pavillion.  Penn State opened the scoring with a shot that from the circle that found it’s way through goaltender Joe Marshall (jenkintown, PA).  The Hens answered with a power play goal from Matt Gumina (Brick, NJ).  In the second period the Ice Lions capitalized on a horribly poor line change and scored on a 2 on 1.  PSU scored it’s third goal during 4 on 4 play when Delaware’s defenseman got caught deep in the Penn State zone.  The Ice Lions ended the second period scoring when their penalty expired and the man out of the box created an odd man rush. In the third period Trevor Richmond (Bear, DE) put home a rebound off a shot by Matt Gumina.  Penn State countered with a short handed goal to make the final score 5-2.

Delaware score 1 on 5 power play chances. PSU went 0 for 3.

Final shots: PSU – 35 UD – 23
