The Blue Hens are on the road this weekend, taking on the Syracuse Orange on Friday and Saturday nights.  The team is looking to bounce back after a rough weekend against Rutgers.  They lost their home game 5-0 on Friday, and then after a battle on Saturday, lost their away game 7-4.

Syracuse split two home games with Drexel last weekend.  The Orange won theirFriday night game 3-2 and then gave up Saturday’s 4-2.   The team is now sitting with 4 wins and 4 losses.  Leading Syracuse in points is forward and Asst. Captain JR LaPointe, with 6 goals and 4 assists.

In order to come out on top this weekend, the Hens are going to have to play smart.  There was an element of disarray among the team last weekend, with a lack of control on the puck and a lot of penalty minutes.  Going into these next games, we are looking for more consistency from the entire team, and smart, strategic plays from our offense.

We are also looking for some strong goaltending and hard work on defense this weekend.  After two high-scoring games against us, we are hoping to see our defense bounce back and set precedent for the rest of the season.  As forward Dan Going put it last weekend when speaking with intern Analisa Vizzoni, the Hens must “play a good team game and a good 60 minutes of hockey”.

Delaware forward Mike Conte is our player to watch this weekend, scoring his first goal of the season at Rutgers on Saturday.  We’re hoping he can pick up a few more this weekend in Syracuse!

Be sure to keep up with the team on twitter throughout the weekend, @UDHockey, and mark your calendars for our next home game on Friday, October 23rd Military Night against WCU!
