This weekend, the University of Delaware men’s Division 1 team will play against the University of Illinois at 7 pm on November 12th and 13th at the University of Illinois Ice Arena. This game will also show appreciation for the military as Veteran’s Day was yesterday. The last time the Hens went up against Illini was in 1996.
Last weekend, the University of Delaware men’s Division 1 team played against the Drexel Dragons. On Friday, Nov. 5th the Hens won with a score of 5 -4. Within the second period, the team scored two power play goals by forwards Colin Emerich and Ryan Rodrigues. During the last period, Brian Ostrander and Jake Nimeh each scored a goal in the last three minutes bringing the score from 4 – 2 to a tie of 4 – 4. The game ended with Emerich, assisted by Brian Ostrander, scoring the game winning goal in the first overtime.
Then, on Saturday, Nov. 6th the team lost with a score of 6 – 5 in a shootout. However, last weekend, Illini lost both games against Minot State University. The last time the Hens played against Illini in 1996, they won 6 – 5 and 4 – 2. As long as history repeats itself, the team should have another victory under their belt.
