Delaware Ice Hockey

Drexel Weekend Preview

Newark, Del. After taking losses to Adrian College and Davenport University this past weekend, the Blue Hens are back this weekend to face Drexel University. The Hens will host the Dragons at Fred Rust Arena on Friday (Oct. 25) at 7 p.m. before traveling to Philadelphia’s Class of 1923 Rink on Saturday (Oct. 26) for a 7:45 p.m. game.

The Blue Hens will be supporting Breast Cancer Awareness at Friday’s home game. Breast cancer survivors from the Delaware Breast Cancer Coalition will conduct a ceremonial puck drop at 7 p.m. The DBCC will also have their own table where they will be collecting donations for the cause. The game will be free admission for all attendees.

The Drexel Dragons are coming off of a victory in their weekend series against New York University last weekend. On Friday, they beat NYU, 4-2, in their home opener. On Saturday they won, 6-4.

This week’s player to watch is senior forward Chris Mazzella. Chris is a sports management major and co-captain of the Blue Hens. The first-line right winger is off to a good start this season, being tied for team leader in goals. Chris leads his team by example and they say they look to him as a “pure goal scorer.”

If you can’t make it this weekend, watch the Hens on the live broadcast at dehockeynight.com. Friday’s game will be broadcasted on TV and radio and Saturday’s game will be just radio.
