Youth Hockey

Enjoy watching UD hockey and want to get in the game yourself? Check out these opportunities at the UD Ice Arenas.

Learn to Skate

You can't play if you can't skate. Fortunately UD is home to some of the finest skating instruction in the nation.

Learn to Play

Learn to Play Hockey is designed to teach and strengthen basic skating and hockey skills. The classes also prepare players for in-house and travel league play. The program's small teacher to student ratios ensure players get adequate attention from the instructors. A Learn to Play Hockey student who has passed all three levels will be skilled at forward skating and crossovers, backward skating and crossovers, hockey stops, passing and puck receiving, shooting (forehand & backhand), and introductory game skills.

Cross Ice and In-House Hockey

The Cross Ice Hockey League is specifically designed for players 9 and under and provides fast results in a fun environment. Cross ice hockey is a system whereby skaters play the game on one-third of the width of the rink rather than the full length, allowing for faster game play.
The In-House Hockey League is designed for players ages 10 to 14. This league is a great way to have fun while further developing hockey skills. The In-House League provides players quality game experience without travel.

Travel Hockey

The Delaware Jr. Blue Hens are the oldest operating youth hockey club in Delaware and call the UD Ice Arenas home. They are members of the Delaware Valley Hockey League (DVHL) and field teams for players from ages 8 to 18.
