West Chester Weekend Preview 1/22, 1/23

The Blue Hens will be taking on the West Chester Golden Rams this upcoming weekend, Friday the 22 and Saturday the 23. We played West Chester back in October and were able to come out with a strong with both nights with an 8-0 win on Friday and a 2-0 win on Saturday. The key players that we should keep on eye on this weekend are Justin Finnerty (25), James Davis (22), and Michael Dorfschneider (21)

The last series the Hens played against Stony Brook was back in early December. Unfortunately, the Seawolves swept the Blue Hens with a 5-0 loss on Saturday and a then a closer game of 3-2 on Sunday. UD put up a tough fight that weekend. This past weekend the Hens again came out ready to play and continued a strong fight but were not able to deliver a win on Saturday or Sunday. They lost Saturday (3-0) and Sunday (6-4).

On Friday the Hens were able to come out strong and defeat Lebanon Valley (3-1). The team saw goals this weekend from John Redgate, Max Freeman, Mike Zidansek, Dan Going, and Corey Leskanic who scored his first Blue Hen goal of the season.

The Hens will need to take advantage of their speed and every opportunity in front of the net that they get. Hopefully this weekend against a team we have beaten before, the lack luster power play will start to click and become a key factor in their success which has to begin with clean passes, and to continue our success on penalty kills and defense. As of now, the Blue Hen point leaders are John Redgate (30), Cole Zuker (28), and Leo Skehan (24)

The player to watch this weekend is Alex Guerere. Alex is a key player to our defensive line and was a crucial factor in the defense this weekend making huge plays and saves for the Hens. He is a strong advantage to the Hens’ defensive line, and we can’t wait to see what he will bring to the ice this weekend!

If you can’t make it to the Rust, be sure to keep up with the games through our Twitter page, @UDHockey, this weekend! We hope see everyone come out and support the Hens Saturday night January 23, which is UD Teacher and Faculty Appreciation Night, but also follow the twitter feed and support their away game on Friday the 22st at West Chester University!
