Delaware Ice Hockey

Stony Brook Weekend Preview

Get excited UD Hockey fans for this weekend’s matchup with league rival, the Stony Brook University Seawolves. After a rough weekend vs. a very talented Ohio University side, Delaware is looking to bounce back and attempt to take back the #1 spot in the ESCHL. The Blue Hens currently sit at #17 in the ACHA.

Delaware is currently sitting one point behind the University of Rhode Island, with a game in hand. A sweep over Stony Brook this weekend would put them in a great position to finish the season on top of the ESCHL.

Stony Brook is coming off two dominating wins over West Chester University and are coming white hot into this matchup. Currently, Stony Brook sits at #4 in the ESCHL with a game in hand on the Blue Hens and are ranked #14 in the ACHA.

Stony Brook is always a high intensity and physical match up. Last time these two teams faced each other, the Blue Hens came out with a sweep on home ice.

Buddha once said, “Do not dwell in the past, do not dream of the future, concentrate the mind on the present moment.” This is the attitude that the Blue Hens need to have going into this heated match up. They need to let last weekend go and focus on the task at hand.

Senior goaltender, Dylan Troiano, had a strong performance in the first game against Ohio University saving 49 of 50 shots. On the year, Troiano has 10 wins, including a shutout, and a sub-3 goals against average. This is the reason that he will be the one to watch this weekend. The Hens need a strong performance in net to be successful against this tenacious Stony Brook squad.
