Get excited Delaware hockey fans, it’s the last home games of the semester! Even better, the Hens will be taking on league rivals, the Stony Brook University Seawolves. Delaware is ranked #1 in the ESCHL, and #17 in the ACHA. Stony Brook is ranked #4 in the ESCHL, and #13 in the ACHA.

Before the Thanksgiving break, the Hens were on the other side of the country for a three game weekend in Colorado. They fell in their game to University of Colorado, Boulder, and they split the series against Colorado State University. The team is looking to come back after this break to come out with a sweep against the Seawolves. They will need to maintain their composure throughout the weekend and limit penalties. The Hens will also need to remain strong on defense. As of now, our point leaders are John Redgate, Cole Zucker, and Jakob DeFares, and the team’s record so far is, 16-5.

Stony Brook, a team known for their strength and skill, was in Colorado the same time as us. They were hosted by Boulder for a series in which they split. The Seawolves point leaders are James Hall, Chris Stemke, and Francesco Sherding, and their record is 9-5-2.

This weekend’s player to watch is Pierce Lamberton! Pierce has been a consistent presence as a forward for our team. He came out of the Colorado weekend with two goals. Overall, he has scored ten goals and has had four assists. He has had three power play goals, and two game winning goals this season. Since his freshman year, he has seen a lot of playing time, and continuously proves himself on the ice. We look forward to seeing more from Pierce throughout the rest of this season, and seasons to come!

The Hens and the Seawolves will match up Friday night at 9:15, and Saturday afternoon at 3:45. Saturday’s game will be “Hockey Holidays,” and the team will be raffling off really cool gifts as a way to give back to their fans this holiday season! Be sure to come out to the game, get your raffles and support the team. As always, keep up with our social media pages to stay in the loop on what the team is doing. Hope to see all of our fans out at the games this weekend!
