Delaware Ice Hockey

Senior Spotplight: Will Zimmer

Will Zimmer, one of the centermen on the team, has finally reached the closings of his final season as a Blue Hen. Number 28 is from Randolph, NJ, concluding his studies at the University in finance and financial planning. Will uses the words creative, persistent, and nails to describe himself as a hockey player. His hockey career started when he began skating at the age of 5 because he wanted to play hockey like his brother Jack, who is also a Blue Hen. The first team Will played for was the New Jersey Freeze. When asked to pick a favorite team memory, Zimmer simply couldn’t, they are all his favorite memories.

Will decided to come to Delaware because of the great people, atmosphere, and to be able to play hockey with his brother Jack. Just like many of his other team members, Zimmer’s favorite team to play against is the Stony Brook Seawolves, who they face off against many times during the season. Will has played many games over his three seasons as a Blue Hen. His advice for future and current players is simple but important; just enjoy every moment.

When it comes to the future, Will plans on getting a job and working in the finance industry. After getting to see number 28 continue his hockey career here at the University of Delaware for the past three seasons, it is hard to see him and all the other graduates go. We are looking forward to all the things Will will be doing in the next couple years and wish him luck!
