Delaware Ice Hockey

Rhode Island Weekend Preview

Newark, Del. — The Blue Hens are back this weekend to face Rhode Island. The first game will take place on Friday (Nov. 22) at 6:15 p.m. at Fred Rust Arena. The second game will be on Saturday (Nov. 23) at 5:25 p.m. in the same arena.

Friday will also be UD’s Hockey Goes Greek game. The team will be collecting Venmo donations at the door for UDance. UDance is a 12-hour dance marathon in March aimed at raising money for childhood cancer research. The Greek chapter with the highest attendance will receive all donations from the night to their chapter’s UDance page.

Last weekend, UD ice hockey traveled to Alabama and won, 4-1, in Friday’s (Nov. 15) game and won again, 4-3, in Saturday’s (Nov. 16) game. The Rhode Island Rams are also coming off a win this past weekend over Lake Superior ice hockey in a 2-0 shutout. The Rams have a current record of 8-7-1.

This week’s player to watch is forward Jake Nimeh. Jake is a sophomore biological sciences major on the pre-med track from Allentown, P.A. After recently being promoted to first-line, he has elevated his play in the latest games. Jake’s teammates see him as a consistent “electric factory” once he steps foot on the ice.

Tickets are $6 (free for UD students) and are available at the door. If you can’t make it this weekend, watch the Hens on the live broadcast at dehockeynight.com.
