This weekend the Blue Hens are back in Newark, ready to face the University of Rhode Island Rams for a 2-game series. On Friday the teams will take the ice at 6:15 PM at the Fred Rust Arena, for UD’s Hockey Goes Greek game. The Greek chapter with the highest attendance will receive all the donations from the night to go towards their UDance page, helping fight childhood cancer. Sororities and Fraternities at UD work year-round to raise money and awareness for the cause, and will be eager to find out which chapter will get the money to their page. On Saturday, the Hens and Rams will go at it again at 5:25 PM, in the same location. The Hens are looking forward to support from Delaware’s large Greek community this weekend!
Delaware is coming off of a tough weekend in Syracuse. The Syracuse Orange took the lead during both games of the series, and the Hens were unable to make a comeback either time. As a result, Syracuse took the wins for the weekend. Rhode Island had their own two-game series this past weekend, in which they beat the William Paterson University Pioneers during both games. We are certainly looking forward to seeing what happens this weekend!
This week’s play to watch is #16 Jakob Defares! Defares plays a crucial role in the team’s powerplay, helping score a number of goals for the team. The Hens recognize him as a top player on the team, and they know he still has even more potential. With countless assists, and even a goal himself, we can’t wait to watch Defares carry out the rest of the season!
