Delaware Ice Hockey

Ohio Weekend Preview

Blue Hens Hockey is back! After a long holiday break, the Blue Hens will be heading to Athens, Ohio to take on #3 Ohio University Bobcats this coming Friday and Saturday.

Before the break, the Blue Hens were able to sweep Stony Brook on home ice to bring their record to 18-5. Stony Brook, being the rival that they are, sent the Blue Hens to break on a high note. Now, Delaware must come out strong against a very skillful Ohio squad.

Ohio was penciled in to face #11 Lindenwood last weekend, however these games were cancelled due to weather. This may work in Delaware’s favor given that Ohio does not have any games under their belt after their long break as well.

This weekend’s player to watch is not just one player, it is the whole Blue Hens team. The key to coming out strong after a long break is meshing well as a unit. Delaware needs to play energized while staying disciplined. Staying out of the box is essential to keeping player’s energy high after a long time off of the ice. The Blue Hens must stick to their roots and play aggressive hockey, on and off the puck, and they should find success against the highly ranked Ohio team.

This weekend’s match ups between the Hens and the Bobcats are Friday and Saturday, both at 7:30pm. Check out our Twitter, listed below, for live tweets during the game. A link to a live broadcast will provided if available.

Looking forward at the rest of the season, the Blue Hens have a few promotional games upcoming, including Cub Scouts night. This game is taking place on January 28th at 5:15 vs. Liberty University, and tickets are $3 for all Cub Scouts, friends, and family.
