Matt Di Girolamo is making his first collegiate coaching appearance this season for the University of Delaware ACHA D1 hockey team. Di Girolamo graduated from NCAA nationally ranked University of New Hampshire in 2012. At UNH Di Girolamo recorded a nation’s best and school record 1,145 saves in 2,302:51 minutes played, while maintaining a save percentage of .923 and a win percentage of .641… Di Girolamo also had 17 games with 30+ saves. He ranked in the top three in every net-minding category in Hockey East, including first in minutes, second in save percentage, and third in GAA (2.44). Di Girolamo also received several honors for the 2010-11 season: Hockey East Honorable Mention All-Star, Hockey East Athletic Republic Player of the Week, Hockey East Defensive Player of the Week (four times), Inside College Hockey National Player of the Week, and Hockey East Goaltender of the Month for December, in which he was unbeaten (3-0-0), and March… He was one of 10 Wildcats named to the Hockey East All-Academic Team. He graduated with a degree in Finance.
Prior to UNH, Di Girolamo played for the Waterloo Black Hawks in the United States Hockey League. While in Waterloo, Di Girolamo lead the Hawks to the championship twice, but lost in both years. He was named an All-Star both years and in his final year he was named to the 1st team Reebok all U.S.H.L team.
Di Girolamo’s primary responsibility will be to oversee the Blue Hen Goaltenders. A native of Penllyn, Pennsylvania, Di Girolamo now resides in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania where he also works at Unitek Global Service as a Financial Analyst.
