The Blue Hens are back in Newark this weekend getting ready to face Liberty University. Friday’s Home Opener game will take place at 7pm in UD’s Fred Rust Arena, followed by a second game on Saturday at 3:45pm in the same location. Not only will the Hens be focused on their home openers, but this weekend will also support Breast Cancer Awareness.
Saturday’s game will have various promotions for Breast Cancer Awareness. The game will start with a ceremonial puck drop with two representatives from Delaware Breast Cancer Coalition, breast cancer survivor Danielle DeCook and Communications Director Katelyn Wright. The game will be free of admission with a suggested donation to the cause. Additionally the booster club will be selling the rink t-shirts where a portion of the proceeds will be donated.
Liberty University is coming off of a win against Indiana University of Pennsylvania, where they beat the team 6-0. UD also had a big win last week, beating the Penn State Berks 8-3. Last year, Liberty beat Delaware in the two games they played, so we can only hope to turn those statistics around this upcoming weekend.
This week’s player to watch is #22 Michael Nisky! Nisky is one of the team’s top players. After scoring a goal and assisting with 2 more at last week’s game, Nisky’s teammates are confident he will contribute a lot at the games this weekend, especially because he had such an impact on the Hens’ game against Liberty last year! We can’t wait to continue to watch Nisky succeed throughout the rest of the season!
Be sure to keep up with the team and show your support through social media this weekend!
