Seven years ago, Delaware Athletic Director David M. Nelson had a dream of some day buying an artificial ice rink for the university. Last week, just ten short months aft.er the realization of that dream, thirty hockey players (comprising an “A” team and a “R” team) stepped out on the ice, played hockey, and won. Presently . about 35 persons are playing hockey two nights a week on a club basis. A constitution has been presented to the SGA for its approval as an officially sanctioned university club. The two teams are in the process of scheduling games with other club teams. The presence of over 400 fans at Saturday night’s game with the hockey club from the University of Pennsylvania indicates a rapidly growing enthusiasm for hockey at Delaware.
