Mike DeAngelis manned the UD Hockey bench for many years, including six seasons as Head Coach from 2004 to 2010. Coach DeAngelis took over the program at a tumultuous time, turning it back into an annual National Championship contender including back-to-back final four appearances in 2007 and 2008. After leading the program to over 100 wins in his seven seasons, including the program’s first victory over Penn State in over 11 years in 2008, Coach DeAngelis was also responsible for laying the groundwork and recruiting many of the players who would go on to lead UD to another pair of back-to-back semifinal appearances (2011 and 2012) and the ACHA National Championship in 2012 after his departure.
During his time coaching at Delaware, Mike was recognized as the ESCHL Coach of the Year in 2008 and also finished as the runner-up in Coach of the Year voting throughout the entire ACHA. Outside of UD, DeAngelis also served as a coach for the Italian IIHF Senior World Team in 2007 and 2008.
