Joe Baumgartner, another fantastic defenseman to don the Blue and Gold, was one of the most well-rounded blueliners in the history of the program. As an anchor on the top defensive pair for multiple seasons, Joe was also a prolific scorer, tallying 30 goals and 67 assists for 97 total points in his career.

While serving as two-year captain, Joe was recognized several times by the conference and league including First Team All-ESCHL honors, a bid to the inaugural ACHA All-Star Game in 2008, along with Second Team ACHA All-American honors in 2008 and Third Team honors in 2009. From 2005 to 2009, Joe also earned several team awards, including Best Overall Defenseman. Always a leader on and off the ice, Joe was a key reason the team reached the National tournament in all four of his years as a Blue Hen, including back-to-back National semifinal appearances in 2007 and 2008.

A native of Columbus, New Jersey, Joe is currently an Investment Product Consultant at New York Life and resides in Charlotte, North Carolina with his wife Elizabeth.
