It’s playoff time for Delaware hockey! The Hens will be taking the IceLine Arena by storm on Friday at 3 for the first playoff game against Rutgers.
This past weekend the Blue Hens swept the West Chester University Golden Rams for their final weekend in the regular season. On Friday night, goals were scored by Greg Jandoli (3), Ian Anderson, and Cole Zucker. On Saturday goals were scored by Dustin Rabinowitz, Ian Anderson, Cole Zucker (2), Kevin Felice, Devin Jenny, Chris Mazzella, Drew Torrey, Danny Demas, and Shane Mullin. The Hens played exceptionally well this weekend. They were strong on the power play and penalty kill. They also took advantage of every opportunity in front of the Rams’ net. The goalkeepers were also key parts of Delaware’s game, and Chris Demas got his first chance to play this season on Saturday night.
The last games that the Ice Knights played in was the series against us in early February. We split the series with them. In order to be successful in the playoff game, the Hens must stay out of the box and be strong on the power play. They also need to make clean passes and take every shot available in front of Rutgers’ net.
Player to watch for the weekend is #9 Greg Jandoli! Jandoli earned himself a hat-trick on Friday night, and is the only player to get one so far this season. He has been a huge part of our forward lines throughout the past two seasons. This season he has seen a lot of ice time, and has earned himself a total of 10 points.
If the Hens win on Friday, the team will go on to play Liberty University in the next round of games on Saturday at 4:45. If they lose on Friday, they are done in the tournament.
Stay tuned with updates on how the weekend goes on the team’s social media pages.
