Even though the Delaware hockey team’s season ended in a heartbreaking loss to Rhode Island on Saturday, the Hens should have a lot to look forward to next season. The university was chosen to be the host of the 2011 ACHA National Championships to be held March 5 to 9. A primary reason Delaware was chosen as a location to host this tournament is that there are two rinks on campus, the Fred Rust Arena and Gold Ice Arena, head coach Mike DeAngelis said. Delaware is one of the only sites in the country that can accommodate such a large-scale tournament. In a press release, ACHA Commissioner Brian Moran expressed a desire to bring the tournament back to the East Coast as another reason for bringing the tournament to Newark.
