A stitched arm and new offense boosts hockey

Professional ice hockey has always been considered a very physical and hazardous sport. It tends to attract unusually rowdy fans who like to drink beer, yell obscenities at referees and throw an occasional bottle cap or two on to the ice. Delaware’s varsity ice hockey club, which opens its season tonight against Hofstra University at the Gold Ice Arena, has been known to opportunely follow suit. But the illegal checking and slashing that the fans adore started a little early this year, even before the official tryouts began.
